Invitation to the 11th International Conference of Analytical Psychology and Chinese Culture

Dear Members of the ARPA Executive Committee and Secretariat,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite members and colleagues of the Associazione per la ricerca in Psicologia Analitica (ARPA) to participate in The 11th International Conference of Analytical Psychology and Chinese Culture.

Under the theme “Refining the Heart through the I Ching: Wisdom of the Heart and Analytical Psychology in the Age of AI,” the conference will feature online satellite events from 23 to 26 November 2026, followed by the in-person main conference on 27 and 28 November 2026 at Nishan Sacred Land in Qufu, Shandong, China—the birthplace of Confucius.

The conference is co-hosted by several academic and professional organizations, including the China Society for Analytical Psychology (CSAP), an IAAP member society in China, and the Chinese Society for Sandplay Therapy (CSST), an ISST member society in China. It will bring together Jungian analysts, psychologists, psychotherapists, scholars, and cultural practitioners from China and around the world.

Since its inauguration in 1998, this conference series has sustained nearly three decades of dialogue between analytical psychology and Chinese culture. Professor Heyong Shen, one of its principal initiators and organizers, has devoted many years to advancing analytical psychology and sandplay therapy in China through professional training, academic research, organizational development, international exchange, and engagement with Chinese cultural traditions.

The eleventh conference will explore analytical psychology, the I Ching, Confucian psychology of the heart, AI and psychological services, clinical practice, sandplay therapy, dream work, active imagination, expressive arts, and culturally grounded approaches to psychological healing.

We believe that perspectives from Italy—particularly concerning culture, community, identity, indigenous traditions, social transformation, and psychological healing—would make an especially valuable contribution to this international dialogue. We would be deeply honored to welcome ARPA members to the homeland of Confucius to share their experience and to witness firsthand the continuing development of analytical psychology in China.

With warm regards,
